I’ve been paying more attention to the simple clutch envelope style bags I see women carrying around. In particular, I saw one the other day in a professional setting that looked like a leather envelope portfolio, and I thought it looked pretty sleek.
So here’s a question for the menswear donning queers out there: would you carry a clutch bag? Because I know it’s at the top of my list! I’d bring it to events or out to dinner for my wallet, cell phone, business cards, and other essentials. But I think the clutch bag’s association with femininity has deterred men and masculine-of-center folks from carrying them. Especially in the states. They favor stuffing their pockets full of things over carrying a nice little bag that could be confused with a purse. Perhaps it’s time for us queers to step up and stop stuffing our pockets with everything.
