I'm excited to announce that on March 11th, dapperQ will make history by becoming the first ever queer style panel to present at South by Southwest (SxSW) during their official Sxstyle weekend! I'll be joining them as a panelist in our discussion: Queer Style: Visual Activism & Fashion’s Frontier, along with Aja Aguirre (Fit for a Femme), and Leon Wu (Sharpe Suiting).
Our discussion will cover "What is queer style?" "Queer Style as Visual Activism," and "Queer Style as the Next Fashion Frontier."
We will also be taking audience questions. If you want to ask a question in advance, shoot me a tweet @sonnyoram.
Can't make it to the panel? Join us at the dapperQ Post SXStyle Panel Mixer! dapperQ has partnered with Girls With Flair! to bring you the ultimate SxSW dapper queer mixer. Stuzo Clothing (L.A.) will have representatives, merch, and a quick runway show!
We'll also be raffling off tickets to DINAH SHORE 2016 ~and~ an unofficial SXSW Showcase event hosted by Girls With Flair!, producers of 2015's Jailhouse Jamboree featuring RUBY ROSE!
Queer Style: Visual Activism & Fashion’s Frontier
Friday, March 11

From butch wedding suits to gender-neutral collections featured on fashion week runways, queer style has become a multi-million dollar industry on crowd funding alone. However, queer style is more than just a business and a trend; it is a social movement. dapperQ, the leading style website for masculine presenting women and trans* identified individuals, will host a panel that will explore queer style as an enigmatic art form that is the new fashion frontier and examine queer style as visual activism that creates positive social change. Attendees will gain knowledge about how to succeed in this growing market using approaches that are effective and culturally competent.

As Qwear's Founding Editor, Sonny’s work centers around envisioning a future in which the clothing people wear does not dictate their chances of survival. Sonny was awarded 2015 dapperQ of the Year and was the first trans blogger to be sponsored by Topman. In March 2016, Sonny spoke at South by South West's first official queer fashion panel.
