After seeing Alexa's fantastic long distance photoshoot with Blake, we decided to reach out again for a feature!
Where did you grow up & where do you live now?
I grew up in the south of Portugal with my family, lived in Lisbon, for 8 years where I did my Social Work degree. I am now living in Leeds, UK where I moved to get a MA on Gender, Sexuality and Queer Theory about a year and a half ago.
How do you think your friends would define your style?
My friends say that I'm put together and sharp. They like my bow ties and I usually get compliments on my coloured khaki trousers.
What’s your favorite item in your wardrobe?
My favorite item in my wardrobe has to be my denim jacket from GAP — I got it on sale and the last time I had a denim jacket I was about 5years old.
What’s your biggest style challenge?
I think my biggest challenge is to find quality clothing with little or no money. When like me, you've gone through life working in community projects, NGO's and in the voluntary sector, you learn to not buy much and be content with little quality. Therefore I try to challenge myself to acquire quality items that will last me longer and look much better, now that I can spend a bit more. This is particularly the case with vests, blazers, and shoes. It is hard to find them at affordable prices and to fit my style. I've been learning more and more about tailoring.
Which literary figures do you most admire?
I have a great admiration for a lot of Portuguese writers. Being Fernando Pessoa (poetry), Pedro Paixão (short stories) and José Saramago (books) are my favorite ones.
Who’s your style icon?
I would have to say, first of all, my mother. Even though she had to raise three kids (Have I told you I am a triplet?), and had to work 10 to 12 hour days, she always has impeccable style and great taste in clothing. Also I look a lot into the community of queer fashionistas/os such as Mimi of loverofstories, Sean of Qwear/Ex-Southern Belle, Bing of Qwear/I Dream of Dapper and Blake of Qwear/The Curvy Lesbian. The four of them are the people I follow for style inspiration and to learn all those things that take an outfit to the next level =)
